Short biography:

Magnus Zetterlund (b.1980) is an award winning musician from Sweden. He is one of the foremost mandolin and guitar players in the Scandinavian folk scene collaborating with top artists in Norway, Finland and Sweden. 

Magnus is a passionate mandolin instructor and teaches mandolin and guitar students at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He is also the founder of the online-teaching-platform

Long Biography:

Magnus Zetterlund(b.1980) is one of Scandinavia’s foremost mandolinists with an innovative approach to traditional music and beyond. He also plays guitars, cittern and harmonica. This insightful playing shines best throughout the work with his bands Nordic, Primus Motor and Malin Foxdal Trio. He is also in demand as an accompanist and in recent years has made albums, concerts and TV appearances with Esbjörn Hazelius, Tomas Ledin, Sofia Karlsson, Quilty, Gjermund Larsen, Petri Hakala, Rostam Mirlashari, Dan Viktor, The Tarantula Waltz and Kersti Ståbi.  

In 2017 the album "Salmeklang", Gjermund Larsen featuring Nordic received a Norwegian Grammy Award.

In 2014 he received a gold record award for his work with Tomas Ledin´s Swedish Grammy award winning record ”Höga Kusten”.

As a performing musician Magnus has also worked with Riksteatern, Cirkus Cirkör, Västanå Teater, Clowns without borders and Gävle Folkteater.

In 2007 Magnus became the first Swedish mandolinist to graduate from higher education when he completed his studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. 

He’s a passionated instructor and besides the online teaching he’s regularly leading workshops in the Nordic countries and occasionally teaching at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the University of Gothenburg.

The Magnus Zetterlund YouTube channel has been providing weekly inspiration and value to the Mandolin World since late 2017 and in less than 2 years his tutorials has more than 250.000 views.

He is also making mandolin lessons for the well known e-magazine Gypsy Jazz Secrets Magazine.
